Distinguished Leadership by a Community Planner(s)
The Arrowstone Park Board
The award winner for Distinguished Leadership by a Community Planner(s) will go to the Arrowstone Park Board whom helps operate and maintain the Arrowstone Park. Arrowstone Park is an approximately 85-acre natural and recreation park adjacent to the City of Deer Lodge, Montana. The Park Board has made many improvements to the Park in the face of challenges from the impacts left from the historic mining operations in Anaconda and Butte. The more notable improvement to the Park has been the creation of the River Trial that is an ADA compliant trail located along the Clark Fork River. Additional Park improvements made by the Park Board include added restroom facilities, a pavil-ion for picnic tables, dog waste stations, information kiosks, fencing, park benches, trail signage, and several other amenities at various locations throughout the Park. The Park Board has also been influential in encouraging the County’s Planning Department to purse a Planning Grant from Montana DNRC to fund a master plan for the Park. In a response to increase the public’s awareness for Arrownstone Park, the Park Board has recently held their second annual Community Clean Up Day.
